Polar bears are actually ever more emerging as endangered due to many factors featuring industry projects, ice in their natural environment melting, and human aspect. By far the biggest root cause is the change in the natural world of the polar bear. Lots of life-threatening situations are created for these cool climate bears when the ice melts. Global warming that is linked to industrialization as well as ventures such as driving a vehicle, burning coal, and more human activities creates the ice melting.

Ice melting need to be a primary focus of conservation efforts for the polar bear as this is actually impacting the polar bear the most. Polar bears rely on sizable stops of drifting ice to do their daily activities linked to staying alive. Polar bears prey on fat-laden seals from these stops of ice, they mate, and some even deliver their cubs on them. The complication by having the ice melting is that many polar bears have actually gone hungry since there is actually not ample ice for them to hunt their prey. This affects their capability to reproduce and bring their cubs to term that instantly impacts population quantities. Also, when ice is actually too a long way from land, polar bears are going to drown trying to swim far distances to discover them. All of these elements have made the polar bear more land bound.

    Why They’re At Danger
The biggest hazard to the survival of the polar bear animals is the noted warming of the Arctic marine which is leading to the melting of the ice these bears call house. Although the bears make use of the ice for breeding and resting as well, it’s principal element is to give a cover for the bears as they hunt seals. Without sufficient ice, the bears can not prolong a long way enough from land to hunt ample food to thrive. The bears are coming to be malnourished as well as several are dying of starvation. This dynamic is effecting female bears with cubs in a excellent amount inducing reduced survival prices of the newer generations. Increased dangers to polar bears include enhanced run ins with individuals due to the forced time spent on land, as well as spills, development and freight methods reporting to oil in the Arctic.

That Is actually Helping, and Just how
Significant contributors to the fight to save the Arctic Polar Bear provide the Coca-Cola Provider as well as the Globe Fauna Fund. Collectively these organizations are raising hard earned cash to groundwork what is actually causing world-wide temperature change as well as performing by having governmental bureaus to manage greenhouse gas discharges. Other significant projects feature energies to defend against unfavorable mortal interactions providing poaching and extreme tourism and defending critical habitat areas such as birthing dens.

You are able to get involved in the mission to save the Arctic Polar Bears by functioning directly with the Globe Wildlife Fund. Begin the rewarding journey today by visiting Polar Bears at World Wild Life.

Has the Power Hitter been added to the endangered species list? The science is absolutely clear that power hitter needs protection under the Endangered Species Act. The power hitter, whose stats have been shrinking since the melt down following the Mitchell Report, should be the first to be designated as threatened with extinction mainly because of global warming, since the Polar Bear.

  • Mister Six says:

Isn’t it amazing? They ban steroids… and everybody swears that nobody was using them anyway… But all the homers disappear. And all the old sluggers are declining like old sluggers again. The difference between Rafael Palmiero 5 years ago… and Jason Giambi now… is that Giambi isn’t juiced up… and can’t hit a lick any more.

  • Jayman says:

Are the polar bears doomed to extinction? Global warming causing shrinking habitat.

  • Andy says:

Again, Mr. Jello… isn’t the sharpest salad out of the mold. Yes there are between 25,000 and 40,000 polar bears in the world, and not all of them are in trouble. They actually exist in six core populations. In the 1950s their numbers are now thought to have been about the same — keep in mind though the hunting of them for sport and food was finally coming under control. It is thought that in the last ten years their population has dived by as much as 17% (please see the links below, including one from NOAA — unlike Mr. Jello I back up my numbers). The key factor in this is the loss of their hunting platforms — the ice shelf. The Northwest Passage is becoming a reality. The trade off for that is polar bears are going to suffer horribly. Climate change is real, it is here and it is happening in ways we can’t even foresee. From those of us trying to do something — either get on board or get out of the way.

I hope not. But you know, Bush likes global warming, and disappearing ice up around the top of Alaska…it opens up new oil fields. And if there are polar bears in the way of the drilling, that causes them problems. So the Bushies are happy to see the polar bears become extinct..

  • Mr Jello says:

Interesting. In 1950 there were 5,000 polar bears, now their numbers are 25,000 and people think they are doomed to extinction soon? This is why Algore had to use animated polar bears in his movie. There are no bears in distress to film.

  • hi g says:

There numbers will get very low and i pray for them and all the other species that’s going extinct. were now parasites on mother earths skin.i pray for a virus that will kill off most humans.

  • zackis2cool says:

Yes it is very sad to see an animal go. :(

What does Al Gore say about polar bear extinction due to global warming/global warming in the north pole? I’m writing a report and I really need to know. Thanks!!

  • Heretic says:

The Secretary of the Interior was hesitant to make a commitment as to placing them on the endangered list. Might have been a good reason for that. Never the less they are not facing extinction. What Al says has little or no consequence whether true or false.

  • crash says:

polar bears have been around for 250,000 years they made it through the last warm period 130,000 when the arctic had a sub tropical climate, maybe they like to eat alligators as well as seals? Al Gore “hints” that the polar bears are becoming extinct. when in fact their population has been increasing for more than 10 years.(research polar bear population figures) he uses polar bears because people think their cute, warm & fuzzy & theres verry little life in the arctic to make an example of. in real life polar bears would see you as lunch if you were up there.

  • Bee K says:

    Hmm.. i dont know

  • Don S says:

My subject matter pertains to the extinction of the species. How many species of animals throughout the earth? become extinct say every day, month or year? How come we only hear of the polar bear, the whales, the panda bear, gorillas, elephants, etc. all generally zoo animals and nothing of other species? For example, the lowly skunk gets run over by cars almost everyday but no one cares. Come to think of it zoo animals generate revenues and thus are protected from extinction. Also “comfort” animals such as cats and dogs are also protected not because of kindness to these animals but rather because they give much “cozy. cuddly” comfort to the owners.

  • I couldn’t give you a number. No one can because we don’t know the current populations up to the minute. But I can tell you that 99% of all species that have ever lived on this planet are now extinct.

  • nixity says:

Yes but the skunk isn’t going to be wiped out any time soon – it has a sustainable population. The reason we hear about polar bears, gorillas, whales, etc is because these are animals that are having a hard time sustaining their population due to habitat loss, poaching, etc. Zoo animals do not generate enough revenue to protect their wild counterparts. If they did – the passenger pigeon never would have went extinct. In fact, the last bird died IN a zoo. If you can’t effectively breed the animals in a zoo (e.g., Whales) then it is very hard to offer a solid conservation effort that will really help in the long run. They are doing the best they can, but it’s contributions and entrance fees to the zoo that help them afford these efforts in the first place.
